Snohomish County, Wash. - Fares on Community Transit local bus and Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) paratransit service will increase 25 cents effective Tuesday, June 1. Meanwhile, bus service on Memorial Day, May 31, will be on Sunday schedule - the last major holiday of Community Transit bus service.
Starting June 1, Community Transit fares will be:
• Local bus - Adults $1.75, youth $1.25, seniors/disabled/Medicare 75 cents
• Dial-Ride Transportation (DART) paratransit - $1.75 all ages
• Commuter bus - no change
• Vanpool - no change, fares are based on mileage and size of the vehicle.
Riders who use an ORCA card are urged to update their monthly pass denomination for June, or make sure they have adequate fare value in their E-purse account to accommodate the increased fares.
ORCA users with an autoload pass must cancel their autoload feature, buy a new pass at the appropriate fare value, then create a new autoload after they’ve used their new pass. Questions about ORCA can be answered at 888 988-6722 .
Memorial Day Service
On Monday, May 31, Community Transit will operate its local service on a Sunday schedule in observance of Memorial Day. DART paratransit service also will operate based on a Sunday schedule. There will be no commuter service to King County or to Boeing-Everett.
Community Transit’s RideStore, located at the Lynnwood Transit Center, will be closed. Customer Information Services also will be closed, but information about Community Transit routes is always available online at www.communitytransit.org.
Regular weekday bus service, RideStore and Customer Information Services hours will resume Tuesday, June 1.
For information about holiday schedules, consult the Bus Plus local schedule book or call Customer Information Services at (425) 353-RIDE(7433) or (800) 562-1375, TTY Relay: Dial 711.
Due to lower revenues brought on by the economic recession, the Community Transit Board of Directors approved the local and DART fare increase, effective June 1, and a service cut which will take effect June 13. As part of the service cut, all Community Transit service will be suspended on Sundays and major holidays. Major holidays include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
Everett Transit, King County Metro Transit and Sound Transit bus service will continue to operate on Sundays and holidays. Community Transit is committed to restoring Sunday and holiday service as soon as economically feasible.
Call Community Transit at (425) 353-7433 or (800) 562-1375 for bus information, or (888) 814-1300 for carpool or vanpool information, or go to www.communitytransit.org.
