Buses Will Serve Edmonds Station Starting Oct. 3

September 26, 2011

Buses will begin to serve the new Edmonds Station platform on Oct. 3.

Snohomish County, Wash. – Starting Oct. 3, Community Transit will adjust two routes to begin service at the new Edmonds Station bus platform, located just east of the Edmonds Ferry Terminal, on the east side of the railroad tracks.

Routes 110 and 116 will serve the new station. The current routing takes those buses along Railroad Avenue, past the Edmonds Senior Center. Routes 131 and 416 will continue to run on Railroad Avenue. Community Transit does not operate on Sundays or major holidays.

The new platform includes two large shelters for bus passengers and will facilitate transfers between Amtrak and Sounder commuter rail. It also allows Community Transit buses to avoid the railroad crossing near the Edmonds waterfront. Delays can occur at that location when buses have to wait for passing trains.

The bus platform completes Sound Transit’s Edmonds Station project. In July, a new platform for Sounder train passengers opened near the Edmonds Amtrak station. At the same time, construction was underway for the bus platform at the north end of the property, adjacent to Main Street. The project was funded by Sound Transit.
