Pay Your Fare Share

Rider Alert

Fares help pay for the transit service you enjoy. While fares only cover a portion of the cost of operating Community Transit service, they are an important part of the revenue that keeps buses on the road.

People who don’t pay their fares are being unfair to their fellow bus riders and to the taxpayers who support transit.

Community Transit has been cracking down on this petty crime. Snohomish County Sheriffs Officers who work for Community Transit ride buses in uniform and in plain-clothes.

Bus drivers always ask for appropriate fare payment. People who decline to pay are subject to a $124 ticket from a deputy.

For information on what and how to pay Community Transit fares, visit our Fares & Passes or ORCA pages.

Swift buses were the first target of our fare enforcement campaign. Hundreds of tickets have been issued for failure to pay fares. A number of arrests have also been made as ID checks reveal outstanding warrants. People who fail to pay their tickets can be prohibited from riding Community Transit buses and are subject to a charge of criminal theft.

Downtown Seattle Service May Be Impacted - May 1

Rider Alert

Expect Delays When Mariners Play at Home

Rider Alert

	The baseball season has arrived!

When the Seattle Mariners play weekday home games at Safeco Field, buses into and out of Seattle are often delayed. The delays may get worse on later trips.

Plan ahead. View the Mariners schedule to know when the team will be playing day games or night games at Safeco Field. If you can, plan to take an earlier bus to avoid impacts from travel delays.

If you are going to a Mariners game, consider taking transit to help alleviate traffic in downtown Seattle.

Sign up for Community Transit's electronic alerts, which may help remind you when major delays could impact your commute.

Trip Planner, Bus Plus Books Available

Rider Alert

Community Transit's online Trip Planner is available to plan trips for Feb. 20 or later. Bus service information has been updated to include all the changes that will take place on Feb. 20.

Also, Bus Plus schedule books are on board buses so you can review the new schedules and route maps at your convenience. The new route schedules have been online since early January, but many riders have been waiting for the Bus Plus books. Please take only one book for your use to help keep costs down.

All agencies in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties share bus schedule and route data for use in our online Trip Planner, so if your trip involves a transfer across agencies, that information will be presented. The Trip Planner does not have Washington State Ferries information, nor Island Transit or Skagit Transit information.

Community Transit’s online Trip Planner is one of the most popular features of our website. Because we know it is so important, we are constantly working to improve it. When you plan a trip online you can:

See a map of your trip, and zoom in to view streets and all bus stops along the way.

Start typing a location and get suggestions on matching landmarks.

See a list of popular landmarks and plan a trip to or from that location.

Bookmark a trip so you can use the same locations again.

Please send feedback about the trip planner to webmaster@commtrans.org.
